During its meeting of April 2, 2020 The Board of Selectmen voted the following:

  • The March 23, 2020 Special Town Meeting Postponed to April 13th is Cancelled. There will not be a Special Town Meeting prior to the Annual Town Meeting.  Any required articles planned for the Special Town Meeting can be placed on the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting.
  • The Annual Town Meeting Planned for May 4, 2020 is now scheduled for Monday, June 15, 2020
  • The Annual Town Election planned for May 7, 2020 is postponed to Tuesday, May 19, 2020

The Board also adopted an Open Meeting Law Declaration providing explanatory language on the use of Virtual Meetings.  This Policy allows public bodies greater flexibility in utilizing technology in the conduct of meetings under the Open Meeting Law.  The Town of Sandwich greatly values the participation of its citizens in the public meeting process, but given the current circumstances and recommendations at both the state and federal levels to limit or avoid public gatherings, including Governor Baker’s ban on gatherings of more than 10 people, together with the present closure of Town Hall and other Sandwich public buildings to the public, the Town has decided to implement the “remote participation” procedures allowed under Governor Baker’s emergency Order for all boards, committees, and commissions.
