Communications Technology Advisory Committee

The Committee generally meets on the last Tuesday evening of the month at 20 Tom's Way. Check the Town website calendar for exact date & times.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Communications Technology Advisory Committee mission is to research and study the latest communication technology, internet, wireless service, cable television service and issues relating to the use of these services by the public and to report back to the Board of Selectmen with genuine and accurate information as an aid for decisions relating to contracts or other legal documents that bind the town to individual company providers bidding for this municipal service.

The Committee serves the needs of Sandwich residents, the Board of Selectmen and interested and effected Town staff by:

1. Keeping abreast of developing communications technology, and issues relating thereto;

2. Informing and educating the public about issues relating to communications technology in general, with specific emphasis on cable television service;

3. Participating in assessing the Town's the communication technology needs and the cable needs of the community, and recommending policy and other changes, as appropriate;

4. Establishing a relationship with and maintaining contact with cable company representatives, discussing matters of mutual interest as necessary;

5. Reporting to and advising the Board of Selectmen on communications technology in general, and on cable company compliance with their license;

6. Overseeing the cable operator's response to complaints;

7. Responding to citizen's questions regarding communications technology issues and the cable television system; and

8. Keeping abreast of community programming issues.
