About the Building Department:
The Building Department is responsible for reviewing plans for building permits and inspections of new construction to ensure public safety in accordance with the Massachusetts State Building Code, 780 CMR and other applicable codes. In addition, the Building Department issues sign permits, enforces the Town's Protective Zoning By-Laws and the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District regulations, and monitors compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Building Department staff handle the administrative duties for the Historic District Committee and the Commission on Disability.
