Board of Appeals
MISSION STATEMENT: The Sandwich Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is a quasi-judicial board which interprets and applies the Town's Zoning Bylaws. It decides on a case by case basis requests for variances, special permits and appeals of the decision of the Building Inspector, impartially considering the impact on the Town, and requirements set forth in the Town's Zoning Bylaws and Chapter 40A of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts General laws.


The Board of Appeals is responsible for hearing a variety of requests including special permits to variances from zoning by-laws and the sign code.

Meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room at the Human Services Building, 270 Quaker Meetinghouse Road.

The Board is appointed for five-year terms by the Board of Selectmen and consists of five regular members and up to four alternate members. The current membership is as follows:
