In Sandwich you can enjoy swimming, boating and fishing at saltwater and freshwater beaches; walking and hiking in more than 1,300 acres of conservation areas; camping at Peter's Pond Park, Shawme-Crowell State forest and Oakcrest Cove; biking and blading along the seven-mile long path at the Cape Cod Canal; golfing at the 18-hole Sandwich Hollows Golf Club; tennis and playgrounds at all the local schools; and skateboarding at the Kenneth Benjamin Fleet Skate park.

The Recreation Department offers a variety of programs and special events year-round; sponsors all youth and adult sports leagues; organizes 4th of July Activities and Scarecrow Contest; staffs lifeguards at three fresh-water beaches (Oakcrest Cove, Ryder/Wakeby, Snake Pond), and gate attendants at three salt-water beach locations (Town Neck, East Sandwich and the Boardwalk parking lot).
