Public Safety Emergency TelecommunicatorsDept: Police Department$20.00 PT/$21.28 FT Closing Date: 2/23/2018Union: Yes
The Town of Sandwich is accepting applications for Full Time and Part Time experienced public safety Emergency Telecommunicators to start on or about March 1, 2018. Telecommunicators work under the general direction of the Sandwich Police Department Shift Supervisor and the Sandwich Fire Department Duty Officer in conformance with departmental regulations, applicable provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, applicable Federal Laws, local by-laws and professional standards. Candidates will operate communication systems utilizing radio, telephone and computer equipment to receive 911 emergency and routine calls requesting police, fire and EMS services; provides information to the public; dispatches safety personnel and equipment in response to service requests and to organize and coordinate the activities of field units; maintains records of activities in response to service requests; and performs related work as required. The successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to multitask under pressure. Candidates must be able to work any and all shifts, including weekends and holidays. Qualified applicants should possess E911 Next-Gen equipment training, APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator 1 training or equivalent , APCO Emergency Medical Dispatch certification, current CPR/First Responder certification, and CJIS System Operator Certification. Candidates lacking the above certifications will be provided the appropriate training. The Town of Sandwich, MA has a seasonal opening at Sandwich Hollows Golf Club for Outside Help/Starter/Ranger. Position works 19 hours per week at a rate of $11.00 per hour. Weekend, Holiday and evening availability required. Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license. Position begins mid to late April and goes through the end of November. The Town of Sandwich has seasonal openings for Groundskeepers/Maintenance workers at Sandwich Hollows Golf Club. Groundskeepers will work 19 hours per week starting mid to late April through the end of November. $11.00 per hour. Weekend and Holiday availability required. Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license. Those hired will report directly to the Golf Director or the Golf Course Superintendent. Seasonal Shorebird SpecialistDept: Natural Resources$11.00/hr - $15.00/hrClosing Date: 3/5/2018Union: No
The Town of Sandwich has an opening for one 19 hour per week Senior Seasonal Shorebird Specialist. Senior Shorebird Specialist must have at least one full season of experience in shorebird protection efforts, resource management, security, or nature education or equivalent is required. Certification in First Aid and C.P.R. required; First Responder, Wilderness, or other advanced medical certification preferred. Position pays $15.00 per hour and will start on or around April 1, 2018 and go through September 15, 2018. The Town also has an opening for a 19 hour per week Seasonal Shorebird Support Specialist. Position pays $11.00 per hour and will start on or around May 1, 2018 and go through September 1, 2018. Both positions will be responsible for conducting technical work assessing and monitoring shorebird nesting activity on Town of Sandwich beaches and associated sites monitoring beach use for compliance with regulations governing Town of Sandwich beaches including site specific rules, applicable town, state and federal laws. Both positions are required to work all weekends and holidays through term of employment and will work a variety of shifts, many beginning before 7:00 a.m. and may be subject to extremes of weather. Minimum High School graduation with college level coursework in biology, wildlife management, ecology, or related field. Must possess valid license for operating motor vehicles in Massachusetts. Must be self-confident and able to exercise sound judgement and tact. Training will be provided.
