| Library Director | Dept: Public Library | $65,000 - $80,000 | Closing Date: 3/8/2010 | Union: No | | The Town of Sandwich, Massachusetts, population 23,000, seeks a Library Director who will exercise overall administrative and operational management of the Sandwich Public Library and Archives. Oversee a highly dedicated and competent library staff and volunteers, maintain high levels of service excellence, and ensure compliance to MLBS standards and state certification requirements. Manage the preparation, oversight, and reporting of a budget that relies on public, private, and philanthropic funding.
Collaborate with diverse library, school, town and community groups to cultivate and deliver exciting programs that promote reading and cultural awareness. Promote library activities and participate in professional meetings, councils, and committees. Manage all aspects of technology-related library functions, both internal and consortium-related. Maintain and enhance the library's historic physical plant, and effect long range plans to open a new branch location. Collaborate with Library Trustees to develop short and long range plans for the library.
The qualified candidate must have an MLS from an ALA accredited program a minimum five years of increasing supervisory and administrative responsibility. The candidate should demonstrate a track record and enthusiasm for fund raising and grant writing, hands-on knowledge of library best practices and technologies, and excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Salary range $65,000 - $80,000.
