Responsibilities
Responsible for the administrative and manual work for all public shade trees within the Town of Sandwich as required for their:
- Care
- Control & Assessment
- Inventory
- Maintenance
- Preservation
Utility Issues Related To Private Trees
Tree Care
The Tree Warden division plans, manages and implements a public shade tree-care program. It also performs and supervises other related arborist duties including Insect and pest control. Other duties include:
- Dead or dangerous tree and limb removal
- Overhanging branch removal
- Plant and/or transplant trees
- Tree surgery
- Tree Management Plan
Roadside Maintenance
Tree Warden assists in roadside maintenance and supervision, including, pruning, mowing, brushing, etc.
Grant Writing
This division writes grant applications for horticultural and landscape preservation or enhancement and implements the grant.
Public Safety
The Tree warden performs a variety of other DPW functions responding to emergency calls regarding public safety, tree and road issues, and any storm related activities including snow and ice removal.
