Create your best Jack-O-lantern, take a picture and submit it to the Sandwich Recreation Department before Thursday, October 29th!

First place winners take home a Family Rec Basket!

Winner to be announced, Friday October 30th!

HOW TO ENTER:

We want to see your hard work and know it is yours…. Please be sure to take a picture with your pumpkin. Family photos and silly selfies are encouraged! Please note: the artist must be in included in at least one photo submission to be considered.

Send us an email to recreation@sandwichmass.org and be sure to include:

  • Your name
  • Your Pumpkin Masterpiece name
  • A cell phone number to reach you at
  • Your photo submission

All entries MUST BE RECEIVED BY THURSDAY, October 29th at 3:00 PM

Winner will be announced Friday, October 30th at NOON.

Trunk –or-Treat Registration Guidelines

  • Pre-registration is required if you are bringing a decorated vehicle. 
  • Space is limited. Vehicles accepted on first come first serve basis.
  •  completed registration form must be submitted to Officer Brian Bondarek no later than Monday, October 20, 2020.
  • Completed registration forms maybe:
    1. Emailed to: bbondarek@sandwichmass.org
    2. Mailed to: 255 Cotuit Road, Sandwich , Ma 02563
    3. Drop off: Sandwich Police Department- attn.: Officer Bondarek

 Trunk-or-Treat Application

  • Be creative as you decorate your trunk for trick or treaters, but please be mindful that young children will be attending, nothing too gory please.
  • All registered vehicles that are participating in the event should arrive at Oak Crest Cove- NO LATER than 9:00 AM to set up.
  • Once you arrive, no registered vehicles are going to be allowed to leave the lot until the conclusion of the event.
  • An adult must be with the vehicle at all times during the event. NO vehicles to be left unattended.
  • All adults accompanying the vehicles will be subject to a background check. 
  • Each registered vehicle will consist of one family household or business unit and be limited to 10 participants. 
  • All participants are required to wear a mask. 
  • A prize will be given to the best decorated trunk at the event. SO GET CREATIVE!!!

Leaves are falling, autumn is calling! Join Sandwich Recreation in NEW Fall Programs!

 

We did it!!! The Sandwich Recreation Department would like to thank all those you participated in our successful summer programs!  It is hard to believe that summer is quickly wrapping up and fall plans are being made.  

** Please note.  The Sandwich Recreation Department is working closely with the Board of Health and following the latest COVID information put out weekly by the State of Massachusetts. We will continue to monitor the town of Sandwich case numbers and guidelines put forth by the state- Therefore, we reserve the right to discontinue a program at any time should the town or state feel it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our community. Please take the time to review the each programs modifications we have put into place to ensure all our participants safety. We encourage you to contact the Recreation Department directly with any questions or concerns that you may have.

FALL SOCCER 2020 : SKILLS & DRILLS 

Grades k - 8 Sept. 12 - Oct.  17

NEW 2020! This fall soccer we are going back to the basics and sharpening our skills! Join us for another year of Saturday morning SOCCER at the Wing School for the same community feel with a new twist on the program! Each week teams will focus on a new skill to help improve their individual game, and then compete as a team, while they cheer each other on for individual skill based friendly competitions! Join us for shoot outs- longest kicks- timed relays- most saves and so much more!!

 

Due to COVID 19 Regulations we will NOT be playing full contact games and this year will be strictly skills and drills.  Spectators will be asked to maintain 6 feet of separation as well as having a mask in their possession. Players will be asked to have a mask on their possession at all times in the event that 6 feet of separation cannot be maintained. This fall season players will have the opportunity to sharpen their dribbling, shoot, stopping, and passing skills!

PROGRAMS FOR GRADES K-2

Bowling at the Lanes Bowl & Bistro

Join us and Lanes Bowling and Bistro for an afterschool bowling league!  Drop off will be at Lanes in Mashpee Commons where participants will bowl for an hour and a half!

Yoga for Kids

During this program, children will learn basic yoga poses using movement and their imaginations.  Breathing, balance, bending, twisting and stretching will be incorporated into games, sequences and quiet time, as children pretend to be frogs jumping in a pond, leaves blowing in the wind or dinosaurs roaming the earth. Songs and music will complement the program, encouraging children to improve their fine and gross motor skills, social skills and self confidence.  Bring your own mat or towel.

*This program will be taught by Sarah Daley, a certified yoga instructor who teaches yoga to children and adults in the Sandwich/Mashpee/Falmouth area


Creative Nature

Join us for our revamped outdoor art class! Bringing our natural surroundings and creative minds together! Children will go on short nature walks around the Oak Crest Cove Campus to gather items to create nature/ art projects!

Intro to Lacrosse

Join us for a NEW Intro to Lacrosse Program! This program offers a beginner friendly lacrosse experience for participants in grades K-2 .  Players learn the rules and skills of how to play lacrosse in a safe space.

PROGRAMS FOR GRADES 3-6

Intro to Hiking

Interested in hiking, but not sure where to start?

Join us as we explore Sandwich's own Conservation Lands! Each week we will meet at a different Conservation Land in town, allowing us to walk new trails as well as new elevations! This introductory program will teach hikers how to read trails and reconnect with the outdoors!

Marsh Exploration and Quahog Digging at Mill Creek

Have you ever wondered what goes on in our beautiful marshes? Wanted to learn how to dig for quahogs? Now is the time to find out! Sandwich Recreation is partnering with Sandwich Natural Resources for an all NEW TWO DAY program!

Join us for an afternoon of exploring and learning about the Mill Creek marsh system including: tides, food web, fish crustaceans and plants.  Then come back and join us again in January to learn how to dig for quahogs! TWO PROGRAMS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!

Youth Running Club 

Has your child always wanted to try running?  Join us for a 6 week session of drills, instruction, and lots of running. This is great introduction to running or a great way to build on your skills.

 

Art with Kelly

Come explore different art materials and techniques through drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. We will learn about a number of different artists and styles of art while having fun creating individual original artworks.

 

PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS:

Young Athletes

Young Athletes is A FREE, unique sports & play program facilitated by trained volunteers that focuses on fun activities important to mental and physical growth of children ages 2-9. This program is an early introduction to sports & the world of Special Olympics. The young Athletes Program is brought to you by the Sandwich Recreation Department in conjunction with the Sandwich Partnership For Families thanks to the grant funding from the Kiwanis Club of Sandwich!

 

Every Kid Dance

Come Join dance enthusiast Britt Burbank and drumming extraordinaire Sam Holmstock! Every Kid Dance is an adaptive dance and music program for preschoolers. This is not your typical dance class as it emphasizes creative movement, music and FUN! Combining many styles of movement, from dance to yoga, along with opportunities to create music, EveryKid Dance is designed so that children of all abilities from ages 3-7 can experience the joy and develop a love of dance, music and the arts as well as achieve personal, social and physical growth in a compassionate and supportive environment.

The Sandwich Recreation Department along with the Sandwich Partnership for Families is so excited to once again offer this FREE program thanks to funding from the Kiwanis Club of Sandwich!


 

 ADULT FITNESS:

Wednesday Night Gentle Hatha Flow Yoga

Moderate Hatha Yoga: In this evening class you will get a great stretch and decompress from your day. Moderate Hatha Yoga synchronizes movement and breath to produce a flow of postures that lead naturally from one to the other.   Join Gillian at Oak Crest Cove on Wednesday evenings 7PM to 8PM COST: $40.00 for the month or a $12.00 drop in fee

 

 

Pickleball Lessons

Learn this fun game which is reported as the fastest-growing game in the country.  Pickleball combines the games of tennis and table tennis, on a badminton-sized court.  It is easy to learn and fun to play!  The three week clinic will teach you to play the game, with an emphasis on fun and hands-on play, rather than lecture.  Participants are expected to wear casual clothing suitable for outdoor exercise, and court shoes are recommended (flat-soled sneakers with good lateral support).  Equipment will be provided if you aren’t able to bring a paddle
