Conservation Lands

The Town of Sandwich, located in the Upper Cape region of Barnstable County, is a community of mixed Sandwich Town Seal Extra Smalldeveloped and natural spaces. Since the early 1970s, conservation efforts have preserved a number of land parcels for open space use. These properties include: Boyden Farm, Cook Farm, Maple Swamp, Murkwood, Ryder and Talbot’s Point. Managed by the Sandwich Department of Natural Resources, these lands make up a network of public lands that contain varied terrain, from salt marsh to uplands and grasslands. Having been purchased with town funds from the Community Preservation Committee as well as monies from the Self Help grant program operated by the Division of Conservation Services during the mid-1970s, these lands comprise a network of conservation areas dedicated to recreation and environmental management.
