Town of Sandwich, MA - On March 2 at 12pm, the Town of Sandwich convened the COVID 19 Command Team to work collaboratively to respond to any effects of the COVID 19 Coronavirus within the Town (region). The Command Team is comprised of the Fire Chief, Police Chief, Emergency Management Director, Town Manager, Assistant Town Manager, School Superintendent, Director of Health and Public Health Nurse. The Town will operate a Virtual Emergency Operations Center with its command team until further notice.
The Town of Sandwich is prepared for a wide variety of incidents, including a potential outbreak of Novel Coronavirus within the Town. Although the risk to Sandwich residents of novel coronavirus is low, the risk for Influenza is currently high. Many of the ways that you can help to prevent colds and flu can also help to protect you against other respiratory viruses:
- Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes.
- Stay home if you are sick.
