Water Quality Monitoring

Sandwich Town Seal Large

Swimming Beach water quality is important to the health and wellness of our community. In the last several weeks, the Health Director has issued advisories about observances of cyanobacteria at the public swimming beach at Oak Crest Cove, with bacterial blooms observed on June 27th and again on June 30, 2023. The Health Department also tests all of our public bathing beaches weekly. On Friday, July 21, 2023 we received test exceedances resulting in the closure of Mill Creek Beach and East Sandwich Beach II. On Wednesday, July 26, 2023 test results were suitable for swimming and Mill Creek Beach and East Sandwich Beach reopened. A detailed overview of our swimming beach monitoring is included here: Water Quality Monitoring.

You can help by reviewing this information and sharing with your family and neighbors. Future observations or testing resulting in exceedances, will be shared on our water quality monitoring site. The town will continue to modify its practices as feasible in response to community concerns. Please follow the town website for more information.
